Alex Thorpe discusses the future of the City at the NLA’s City of London Summit

What does the future look like for the City of London?

“We need to focus on attracting new people to the City and the office… The future of office buildings lies in creating spaces that are technologically advanced, sustainable, flexible, and, most importantly, accessible and welcoming to all. By embracing universal design principles, adaptable layouts, inclusive amenities, and a focus on well-being, we can ensure that the City remains the number one destination for all.”

Alexandra Thorpe, Associate Director for CO-RE shared her thoughts at the NLA’s City of London Summit recently.

The summit, hosted at the Guildhall and chaired by Benjamin O’Connor saw speakers coming to discuss how the City could be more sustainable and inclusive. But what were the key takeaways?

• More needs to be done to highlight the cultural and public benefits that are available within the City of London.

• To attract talent to offices within the City, it is vital to build environments that feel inviting and inspiring.

• To achieve these goals, the City of London and the developers within the Square Mile have to work collectively, as such change cannot be achieved on a building-by-building basis.

Thanks to the NLA, all the speakers on the day for thought-provoking discussions, and to the Guildhall for hosting the summit.
